פרס קורנבלט לספר בלימודי ישראל

Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Phillip Korenblat, Professor of Clinical Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, the Cherrick Center for the Study of Zionism, the Yishuv, and the State of Israel annually awards the Korenblat Book Award for the best book in Israel Studies. This award honors the memory of Dr. Steven Korenblat (1948-2019), a lawyer and PhD in Modern European History (University of Chicago, 1978) who studied the Deutsche Hochschule für Politik, a Berlin-based school founded in the early years of Germany’s Weimar Republic.

Due to recent events in the region, the award was not distributed in 2024. This year, we are resuming the Korenblat Book Award, and nominations are open for books published between 2023 and 2025.

The Korenblat Book Award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions in the field of Israel Studies—in the humanities, social sciences, or law. Eligible submissions include books in Hebrew or English authored by scholars at any stage of their careers (no membership required). Nominations can be submitted by individuals or publishers, and self-nominations are welcome. Edited volumes, compilations, proceedings, and translations of books published before 2023 are not eligible; however, books first printed in other languages and published for the first time in Hebrew or English between 2023 and 2025 may be submitted.

The winner of the Korenblat Book Award will receive a monetary prize of $3,000, and the Cherrick Center will host a special book event honoring the recipient at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Deadline for submission: July 31, 2025
